Dulce Maria "With very seductive dance moves"

As far as we can figure, Dulce Maria must be the sexiest former cast member ever to emerge from Sesame Street or, in her case, Plaza Sesamo. Her seductive dance moves and that ever-present bare midriff had to be a major reason she and RBD have been nearly as popular with teenage boys as they've been with young girls. It's little surprise then that she was named Mexico's sexiest woman by Quien magazine in 2006, besting perennial favorite hottie Salma Hayek.

Biography

Dulce Maria Espinoza Savinon was born on December 6, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico. Her career as an actress was launched in 1993 when, at the age of 8, she debuted on Plaza Sesamo, the Mexican version of Sesame Street. She was also featured on other children's shows, such as El Club de Gaby and Discovery Kids during the mid-‘90s.

When she was 10, Dulce joined the Mexican pop vocal group Kids. They scored hits with "Prende el Switch" and "La Mejor de Tus Sonrisas" before she and Daniel Habif, her boyfriend at the time, dropped out of the lineup to start their own group in 1999. The duo, who went by the moniker of D&D, broke up before they had the chance to enter the studio to record a single. Dulce continued to make appearances on a number of Mexican TV series during this time, including Huracan, Inesperado Amor and DKDA.

In 2000, she replaced departing singer Angie in the group Jeans, and sang with them on their album 3:45 (Cuarto para las cuatro). That same year she guested on the series Siempre te Amare and Locura de Amor. When she landed the lead role of Marcela ”Marce” Mejía on the television series Clase 406 in 2002, she left Jeans to concentrate on acting.

Music still remained a top priority for Dulce as she entered Fermatta, a music school in Mexico City, in the summer of 2004. That October, Mexico's Televisa network premiered the first episodes of Rebelde, a telenovela based on a popular Argentinean soap opera aimed at the youth market. Dulce costarred as Roberta Pardo Rey, and once again became part of a vocal pop act. Made up of the show's main young cast members, RBD quickly became a popular musical act as the show became a phenomenon across Latin America. RBD released the album Rebelde in 2004, followed by Nuestro Amor in 2005. The live DVD Tour Generación RBD en Vivo also saw the light of day that year.

The RBD album Celestial and DVD Live in Hollywood were issued in 2006. The final episode of the series was aired in Mexico in June, while the Univision network in the U.S. broadcast the last show that December. Due to the immense popularity of Rebelde, a spin-off series entitled RBD: La Familia starring Dulce made its debut in 2007. To cash in on the success of the show, a similarly entitled CD as well as a Live in Rio DVD were issued around the time the series premiered.
