Born in Montreal, Quebec, to Moroccan parents, Emmanuelle Chriqui grew up a little southwest of there, in a Toronto suburb. Anxious to act from an early age, she was fortunate to have an older brother willing to pay for her early acting classes. She wasted little time finding work, landing a string of television commercials including what amounted to her professional debut, an appearance in an ad for McDonalds. On finishing high school, Chriqui moved to Vancouver and began life as a struggling actress, working various jobs while landing roles on Canadian TV and some B-movies.
